RD-Internet have moved to a brand new Datacenter that has just finished development. This move has not been without a few hitches. The actual migration happened a number of weeks back which left our servers offline for approximately 1 hour. More recent events was a little more painful as we seen our servers out for about 5 hours which was caused by our new Cisco firewall. Cisco had just released a new firewall that our Datacenter had installed but the software itself was unstable and caused more than 2,000 servers to appear offline. Cisco released a quick fix update which has fixed the issue and has allowed our servers to access the providers uplink to the internet.
As these technical hitches were completely out of our control, we feel we should compensate each of our current customers with 1 extra month on their current year with us. Some customers have asked why their sites are still unavailable when in fact they are. The reason is that your ISP may of cached their DNS servers during the outage and may show your site as offline. The only way that you can resolve this issue practically, is to wait until your ISP updates their DNS cache which should be every day but you may have to contact them. We had to contact o2 Broadband regarding their slow DNS cache update which is being dealt with by their support staff. To prove that your site is actually online you can use an online tool that will show you a website as if you were at another PC or country. See Proxy Browsers.
As we earlier stated, the outage was out of our control and many thousands of server were effected. Websites for the Government and the UN were down due to this issue, we have decided to credit you with 1 extra month on your current hosting.
